MS Play opens this week!

In January when we start rehearsals for the MS Play, May seems so far away. Before we know it, we are celebrating the May 1 Labor Day holiday and that means only one thing:

The MS PLAY OPENS TOMORROW!

We have altered the traditional show times this year in an attempt to get the students home a little earlier each evening.

Thursday, May 3: Curtain at 5 pm

Friday, May 6: Curtain at 6 pm

Saturday,  May 7: Curtain at 1 pm and 6 pm.

Tickets are available at the cashier’s office and at the door.

We hope to see you there.

AMIS MS Honor Mixed Choir: VISAS

Important notice: Parents of AMIS Mixed Honor Choir participants

As some of you are already aware, the Indian Embassy in Manila will only be processing a total of 40 visa applications per day.  Our travel agent tells us that the processing time for the AMIS MSHMC group will be 17 – 20 WORKING DAYS after the receipt of the whole group’s applications.

Ms. Hausman distributed visa application forms to your child yesterday.  I am asking your assistance in getting the process started as soon as possible by ensuring that the completed forms are returned to the Fine Arts Office by 12 noon on Monday, Dec. 5. We hope to have them checked and submitted by our travel agent on Monday afternoon, thus allowing us a very slim, but workable timeline to secure the visas before the group departs on January 18.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Calling all Middle School Performers and Technicians!

It is that time of year again. Auditions for the MS Play are coming up soon. We will be holding 2 pre audition information sessions regarding the MS Play next week. They will be held Monday November 21 and Wednesday November 23. They will be held in Ms Purdues Drama Room (1149) from 3 – 4 both days. These sessions are NOT the auditions but a chance to hear about what is involved in being part of the MS play, how to audition and a chance for you to ask any questions you might have. You do NOT have to attend both sessions.

Looking forward to seeing anyone who is interested on Monday and Wednesday.

Ms. Purdue

K-12 Dancers Celebrate Music Icons

Last Saturday afternoon, ISM’s dancers performed to a full house of dance fans.  The AFAC and HS dance classes all performed dances choreographed to songs they selected from musicians they considered to be Musical Icons.  All dancers from our grades 1 through 12 thrilled the audience with ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary numbers.  If you attended the recital, please watch the slide show below to re-visit some of your favourite moments.  If you were not able to attend the recital, watch the slide show below to see what you missed!  🙂   Photos courtesy of Eugene Perez.

ISTA Auditions

Calling Grade 7 and 8 Actors and Technicians!

ISM will be sending 20 Middle School students to the MS ISTA Drama Festival at Tanglin Trust School in Singapore from February 16-20, 2012.

We would like to send 18 actors/performers and 2 technicians as this festival will include a technical theatre ensemble.

The theme for this year’s ISTA festival is Power to make or break

STARTING POINT: Wind will assist a kite to delicately carve the sky; it can also fuel a fire that ferociously tears through a city.  Let’s explore this together.

Information sessions will be held September 27 and 28 at 3:00pm in  room 1149 – Ms. Purdue’s Room. Interested students should attend one of these sessions to find out about the festival, as well as what is necessary for the audition

Auditions will be held October 4 and 5  at 3:00 pm in Room 1149.    Please see Ms.  Purdue or Mrs. Matthew for more information.

ISTA participation is limited to students in grades 7 &8 only.
