(by Audrey M)

ISM High School Visual Arts students are invited to apply to be one of 5 art delegates to represent ISM as outstanding ambassadors at this year’s IASAS Cultural Convention held in at International School Bangkok from Wednesday, February 29th – Sunday March 4th 2012.

ISM will select 25 artworks to send to  IASAS Dance, Drama and Art Cultural Convention at ISB.  5 ISM art students will be selected as delegates to represent the whole body of work to the Cultural Convention delegation. Delegates will be expected to speak knowledgebly about the entire ISM collection.

The selection process for the delegates will be based on the quality of application received as well  as the desire to put together a group of 5 art students who best  represent the wonderful diversity of our ISM Art program.   At the convention, delegates will participate in creating an integrated Exhibition composed of the works sent from each of the IASAS schools.  Delegates will also take part in workshops/master classes both on the ISB campus and possibly (depending onthe flooding situation) in a site specific location.

comMUNism site gets over 27 000 hits in one weekend!

164 delegates from 11 International Schools in 8 different countries came together at ISM this past weekend for the first ever paperless IASAS MUN conference.  It was a wonderful weekend filled with passionate debates, frantic placard waving, resolution writing, surprising superlatives, classy business attire  and hilarious analogies.  These elements are all characteristic of a typical MUN conference, however, one thing was missing – the note passing and piles of paper generated from writing, editing and re-writing speeches and resolutions.  ISM went completely paperless with each delegate accessing all necessary documents via USB and the IASAS MUN website. “Notes” were passed between students via Skype rather than in the hands of Pages and the whole event was documented- live- on the comMUNism (COMmunications of MUN at ISM ) website and Twitter feed. The comMUNism site recorded over 27, 000 hits as of 8 am on Sunday morning, indicating that MUN supporters from all over the world were checking in with us to see how the debates and resolutions unfolded over the weekend.  Congratulations to the ISM MUN team and directors for organising a wonderful conference.  If you couldn’t be here with us, or didn’t know about comMunism, hop over to the site to get caught up on what you missed.

UPDATE: IASAS Drama Auditions

image via http://www.theatreunleashed.com/

All aspiring IASAS Drama performers please take note:

IASAS Drama auditions have been advanced to November 14 from 3:15 to 5pm at the FAT, with callbacks on Nov. 15 from 3 to 5pm at the AMR. As per new IASAS rules, a maximum of eight actors will be chosen. The piece is a stylized exploration into the journey of a male/female bullfighter (so do not expect a mechanized animal onstage.) As this will be jointly devised by cast and director, those who audition are requested to research bullfighting practices, choreographic movements, and male/female viewpoints.  Casting is based on vocal and physical expression, improvisation, and ability to work with others. Bring your preparation, creativity, and energy! AND…a large jacket or piece of fabric that can represent a bullfighter’s cape. 🙂 Ms. Mons

Important Notes:

Forensics and Debate team aspirants are eligible to audition for the play, provided they understand that if cast in the play and selected for a Forensics/debate team they must make a quick choice between activities.  Drama and Forensics/Debate coaches should be consulted prior to the audition.

Second and third season athletes will not be able to audition.

Please see Ms. Monsod if you require more information.

Sign up for your Audition on the Audition Board behind the FAT.
